Archive-- Defining Success

From the Archive — a decade of wisdom, a decade of stories.

STLF staff and community members have been contributing blogs about their experiences, stories, and learnings for years. But once a snippet of wisdom has been published, it invariably leaves the public sphere and sits below the ever-growing pile of information that has become The STLF Blog. To ensure these wise words the attention they deserve, we have added this new series of blogs!

As we peruse the vault of seemingly infinite blog posts, their are some that stick out with a resounding 'yes, this must be republished!' Sam's piece about understanding success as it applies to you as an individual rather than traditional constructs is beautiful; he reminds us that life, and success therein, is a journey and that the path we take is unlikely to be direct.

"To most, this path is one of failure - I gained no expertise and made little money. But I believe that each experience was necessary to get to where I am today. For the first time, I can say with confidence that I am in the best position to succeed - I have the opportunity to learn about things I'm excited about, am surrounded by people I love and admire, and am building something that I believe can have an enduring, positive impact on the world. In other words, I’m set up to achieve success as defined by me."
